
Recruitment AnnouncementATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPYThe Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) at NIST in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking an exceptional experimentalist with a strong record of creativity and achievement in the field of atomic force microscopy or related scanned probe microscopy field. The applicant should have a strong interest in development of new instrumentation and measurement methods to advance the state-of-the-art in force measurements and force spectroscopy, and should posses the leadership abilities necessary to build and lead a thriving research program. It is important that the applicant be able to interact with multiple disciplines and present effectively their programs to a variety of audiences. The new research program will interface with and build upon extensive NIST programs for electrical, magnetic, chemical, physical, optical, and biological nanoscale measurements and standards. Significant opportunity exists within CNST for cross fertilization in the development of cantilever design and their nanomechanical properties, as well as other aspects of scanned probe microscopy.
