Recruitment Announcement

NANOMAGNETISM

The recently established Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (Gaithersburg, MD) has an immediate opening in experimental nanomagnetism at the postdoctoral level. The position involves preparing magnetic nanostructures using various tools in CNST’s new Nanofab facility and analyzing these structures, primarily by imaging, with such techniques as SEMPA, MFM, and TEM. In addition to a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field, candidates should demonstrate experience with some of the following techniques: lithography (especially e-beam and FIB), magnetic thin film and multilayer growth, surface analysis, electron microscopy (SEM, SEMPA, TEM, TEM Lorentz), MFM, and spin polarized STM.

It is important that the applicant be able to interact with multiple disciplines and present their programs effectively to a variety of audiences. To apply, send resumes by e-mail to: john.unguris@nist.gov.
